In 1999, with the “Regulations for the Organization of the Profession of Industrial Property Consultant”, the Register of Industrial Property Consultants was established, held directly by the USBM.
In July 2009 the Republic of San Marino, thirty-sixth state, became part of the European Patent Organization.
The Republic of San Marino grants national trademarks and USBM also operates as a receiving office and country of origin for applications for international trademarks (WIPO – Madrid Agreement and Protocol).
The patents granted are national patents and the USBM is the receiving office of the international patent system (WIPO – PCT) and the European patent (EPC).
Priorities are recognized in the usual way.
